The Little Mermaid
Ballet for Children 2024
Ballet for Children has been a part of the main programme at the New National Theatre in Tokyo since 2009, providing future generations of children the opportunity to experience the art of ballet with their parents. The summer production this year is The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. Choreographed by Kaikawa Tetsuo, the Principal Character Artist of the National Ballet of Japan.

Parade of Summer
Kagurazaka Matsuri
Explore the backstreets of this lovely downtown Tokyo neighborhood combining traditional and modern Japan as you stroll around food, drinks and other booths for this annual summer festival. On Saturday, the famous Awaodori dance procession will take place, drawing crowds of spectators for two performances by a group of children and adults. Colorful Corridor
Metsa Umbrella Sky
Metsa in Hanno, Saitama has brought back their colorful exhibition area with Japan’s largest umbrella corridor. Approximately 1,200 colorful umbrellas will be stretched across the path extending over to the Moomin Valley Park. Metsa is a lakeside forest facility with Nordic influence that is made up of two areas: the Metsa Village, a shopping and restaurant complex with an outdoor area with canoeing and adventure ropes, and the Moomin Valley Park, the home of the famed adorable troll family.

The largest Tanabata event in the Kanto area, this three-day festival is jam-packed with lively events, including its famous 1,000-people-parade, giant dinosaur robot displays, rock-climbing for kids and lots and lots of food. The Shonan Star Mall shopping area will also be decorated with large colorful streamers that cascade from the ceiling, making it an amazing photo spot.
