Nicolai Bergmann’s Aoyama Flagship
The large, modern Nicolai Bergmann complex in Minami Aoyama is the brand’s flagship store and showcases the very best in the popular florist's signature contemporary floral design. As you walk inside the store, you are surrounded by Bergmann’s signature creations both large and small, and you feel like you have stumbled into an oasis in the streets Aoyama.
The unique floral displays in store change regularly, beautifully showcasing the changing seasons. This also means that every time you visit, there is something new to admire. If you need a special gift or a floral arrangement for a special event at home then this is the perfect place to go. You can buy directly from the store displays or place an order with the staff for a custom-made arrangement.
In addition to the gorgeous floral boutique, the Minami Aoyama location also houses a delicious Scandinavian style café, Nomu, which serves natural, seasonal organic food, as well as a floral design school where you can learn firsthand how to create Bergmann’s distinctive, chic floral arrangements.
Nomu’s concise lunch menu offers a selection of organic soups, salads, sandwiches and delicious cakes. I tried the winter salad set with organic whole meal bread and an organic coffee (¥1,575). The delicious winter salad was a really generous size, filled with herbed chicken pieces, persimmon, cranberries, cherry tomatoes, honey toasted walnuts and some amazingly creamy Danish blue cheese. Many other diners in the café selected the soup lunch set (¥1,470), which includes soup, salad, a choice of sandwich and a drink.
The café is baby and child friendly, equipped with high chairs and a sizable selection of children’s toys and books to keep little ones amused. There is also a large selection of glossy Japanese magazines to flip through while you enjoy your lunch.
If the beauty of the in-store floral arrangements has inspired your creative side, you can learn how to create your own contemporary floral design from the man himself by signing up for a class at the Nicolai Bergmann School of Floristry. Unfortunately for many of us, at the moment all classes are conducted in Japanese.
Nicolai Bergmann Minami Aoyama is the perfect place to wile away a few hours enjoying a delicious, relaxed lunch with friends while admiring the unique, contemporary floral displays.
