Join in the Tokyo Fashion Week Fun
Fashion season is upon us! Starting October 12 and running through the 17th, over 40 designers will be presenting runway shows, exhibitions and installations for Tokyo's fashion week. The six-day event will attract fashion professionals from around the globe, seeking interest in what’s trending for spring and summer of 2016. While show-goers keep us in the loop through instant uploads to social media, fashion fans and enthusiasts can get a taste of the fun through the many events that are open to the public. Check out limited time pop-up shops, archival fashion exhibitions, and even get a taste of autumn through signature designer cocktails.
Exhibitions and Special Events
2015 World Watch Fair
When: Thu, Oct. 8–Wed, Oct. 14, 2015
Where: The watch section on the fifth floor of Tokyu Shibuya Honten, 2-24-1, Dogenzaka, Shibuya, Tokyo
What: If you are into the world of luxury watches, this is the event for you. The exhibition and sale will present the world’s top quality brands in watches, including new models and limited editions, some of which were presented at global exhibitions like Baselworld and the World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie.
Japan Fashion and Lifestyle Foundation Archive Collection Exhibition
When: Sat, Oct. 10–Mon, Oct. 12, 2015
Where: 3F United Arrows Harajuku for Women, 2-31-12 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
What: Celebrating the unique designs and innovations of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, the exhibition will present original pieces the 80s and 90s era, alongside modern items from recent collections.
Color Runway
When: Thu, Oct. 8–Wed, Oct. 21, 2015
Where: Shibuya Hikarie 6F, 7F, 11F cafes and restaurants; Mercedes-Benz Collection Upstairs
What: Experience the mood of autumn with these seasonally inspired drinks during Fashion week. The pastel colored drinks use ingredients such as orange rosehip syrup, coconut, hibiscus and sweet nectar, all of which are mixed with vodka. Great for sipping while fashion-week people watching!
Tokyo New Age 2016 Spring Collection
When: Wed, Oct. 14, 2015
Where: Shibuya Hikarie 8F Court, 2-21-1, Shibuya Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
What: Established in 2014, Tokyo New Age is a project developed to promote young and emerging designers within Japan. Come check out the fresh talent of Japan’s young and up-and-coming fashion designers.
Pop-Up Shops
H.P France Limited Shop
When: Thu, Oct. 8–Wed, Oct. 21, 2015
Where: Shibuya Station, Tokyu Toyoko shop West Building, first floor, Shibuya Scramble I pop-up stage A
What: For a limited time, the French boutique H.P France, will sell heart-warming and cute imported goods, such as household accessories, fashion items and more.
Michiko London Koshino Pop Up Shop
When: Fri, Oct. 9–Thu, Oct. 22, 2015
Where: Laforet Harajuku 1F Entrance Space, 1-11-6 Jingumae Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
What: High-end label Michiko London, will be reproducing popular items from its collection archives in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Designer Michiko Koshino will also make an appearance at the shop.
