Estnation, Roppongi

The two-floor Estnation store at Roppongi Hills has long been a favorite of ours, so we were a bit bummed when it temporarily closed this summer for renovations. But almost before we knew it, we had received our invitation in the mail for the store's reopening party in September. And we're happy to say that it's even better than it used to be.

The store’s fixtures and furniture don’t seem to have changed much, but there are new brands and products on display, and the layout of the various departments has changed slightly.

Some brands, such as Theory, Comme des Garçons and Nicolai Bergmann have been given large corners all to themselves, while others occupy just a rack or two. But Estnation’s well-curated selection of designers hasn’t changed; you can still get fun and feminine pieces from the Japanese label Sacai, jeans from Current/Elliott, dresses from Catherine Maladrino, shoes from Jimmy Choo, and a leather jacket by Rick Owens.

For men, there are shirts by Alexander McQueen, jackets by White Mountaineering, sweaters from Lucien Pellat-Finet, and shoes by Pierre Hardy, to name a few.

There is also a kids’ and baby section, which has sumptuously soft blankets, sweaters and bathrobes that make wonderful shower gifts. Upstairs is a very extensive cosmetics department, where you can find just about any high-end imported skincare line you can think of. It’s a dangerous place, and we dare you to go in without buying something.
