New & Upgraded: Latest Guzman Y Gomez Opens In Shibuya

This November, stop by at the latest Guzman Y Gomez store for a bite of your favorite Mexican dishes and more.

As truly dedicated fans to Mexican cuisine, the Savvy Team has been closely following the development of Guzman Y Gomez (GYG), the Australia-born Mexican casual diner that has over the past couple of years become a staple for Tokyo-based TexMex fans. Which is why we were overjoyed to hear the great news: GYG is opening a new store in the very heart of Shibuya this November 15th. And it looks like it will just as good as the rest — but with its own Shibuya twist!

The Shibuya store focuses on offering the best of the best — burritos, nachos, and tacos as a start, but unlike in other stores, it is also introducing a Mexican bar-style food in the evenings (after 5 p.m.) and a special Shibuya-only menu: a Yuzu Chicken Burrito (¥680-¥1,000), a juicy grilled chicken flavored with yuzu (Japanese citrus) pepper. The Mexican bar offers special bits and bites, such as Jalapeno Poppers (¥540-¥790) — deep-fried cream cheese-filled jalapeno, Fajitas (¥1,500-¥2,000), spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings (¥540-¥790), and fresh Coriander salad (¥540-¥790).

As in other stores, the Shibuya branch course offers a wide range of carefully-selected drinks, including tequila shots, beer, and more. And for fans of some action, it is also equipped with large TV screens showing live sports games for enthusiastic soccer and rugby fans who can enjoy the show over a few Coronas.
