Fall comes around, and immediately, you see chestnuts, sweet potatoes and pumpkins take over Japan’s restaurants, cafes and various food and drink chain stores alike. However, when it comes to America’s fall favorite drink, the pumpkin spice latte, it’s surprisingly hard to get your hands on it in Tokyo…

Well, other than at your closest Starbucks during the season. But, for those wanting to try something more unique or local, here are 10 other places in Tokyo to get a cozy hot or chilled pumpkin spice latte this season.

1. Blue Leaf Cafe

Blue Leaf Cafe has taken advantage of the wide variety of seasonal ingredients that autumn in Japan has to offer. Using ingredients like chestnuts and apples, they are offering four special limited-time seasonal drinks: a Marron Nutty Latte, a Chai Apple Smoothie, a Chai Banana Smoothie, and, of course, for this list, a Pumpkin Spice Latte—available iced or hot.

2. Menotti’s Coffee Stop Tokyo

With the weather getting cooler, Menotti’s Coffee Stop Tokyo has brought back its seasonally limited Pumpkin Spice Latte, which will be available until Thanksgiving day (“maybe,”—they say). This quaint cafe is a hidden gem and provides a very relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy your PSL.

Why not try this pumpkin spice latte made with creamy oat milk? It’s available iced or hot and can be enjoyed with American-style cookies served by Monsta Sweets Tokyo—a foreigner in Japan-owned business. Grab one of their various baked treats along with your special seasonal drink.

4. Butter Coffee Stand

Here’s a PSL for pumpkin lovers who want to try all things pumpkin! For a limited time, Butter will sell a homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte using Hokkaido pumpkin and several types of spices. They will also sell various pumpkin-inspired baked goods, such as pumpkin cannels, pumpkin basque cheesecakes and pumpkin financiers.

5. A Decor Life Cafe

Try this seasonally limited sweet pumpkin latte with cinnamon spice. Available hot, this cozy drink keeps you warm at this cafe with a DIY concept. A Decor Life Cafe often holds special interactive art events, too, so keep an eye out for updates on their Instagram account!

This hot pumpkin latte, available only in autumn, is made by mixing rich pumpkin paste, original spice mix, and brown sugar with milk, steaming it, and topping it with cinnamon and pumpkin seeds. Cafe Cour also offers some classic brunch options, such as eggs benedict, French toast, and a chicken Caesar sandwich, to enjoy with your drink.

Available in two locations in Tokyo: the Uni Coffee Roastery in Hotel Azabu and Gakugeidaigaku Station, this pumpkin latte is available iced and hot until November 25th. You can also get a Pumpkin Terrine (¥680), which uses plenty of pumpkin paste with the skin on to create a smooth terrine topped with pumpkin seeds and crunchy biscuits on the bottom.

8. Kaldi Coffee Farm’s Instant Pumpkin Spice Latte

Here’s a fun DIY option for those looking to get a taste of pumpkin spice conveniently at home. Kaldi Coffee Farm, the international grocery store found nationwide, offers an instant pumpkin spice latte mix that you just need to add hot water to. You can also make it with milk or add a shot of coffee. It’s not the most authentic, but it’s fun to have at home when you’re in the mood for some golden warm goodness that reminds you that it’s autumn time.

It’s somewhat common knowledge at this point that most Starbucks stores around Japan serve Pumpkin Spice Latte drinks during the fall season. However, for those of you looking for a more affordable and on-the-go option, Starbucks also has Pumpkin Spice Latte Chilled Cups available in various convenience stores all over Japan.

10. Tokyo Aleworks’s Pumpkin Spice Latte Ale

Okay, we might be reaching a bit with this one, but we’ll add it here as a unique choice for those interested. This is a pumpkin spice latte ale—so yes—it’s alcoholic (6%). Using traditional pumpkin pie spices like cinnamon and nutmeg with a bit of coffee flavor in the background, this ale claims to have a creamy latte mouthfeel. Available only in autumn, would you try this drink?
