Sachiko Miyamoto is Tokyo’s nail super heroine. She brings her predominantly foreign clientele a unique offering of nail services here in Japan, and she makes house calls…pure genius!
Sachiko offers shellac and regular manicures, pedicures, polish changes, and even a mani-pedi combo for the extremely reasonable price of ¥6,000. Sachiko worked in New York for over eight years in the nail business, and she brings a rare standard of service to Tokyo, where the majority of time during nail salon visits is normally spent on gel application and design work.
Sachiko brings all that is needed to set up shop right in the comforts of your living room. Her service includes nail trimming, filing, exfoliation with her famous homemade oatmeal brown sugar scrub, aroma oil massage (includes head and shoulders), and a solid selection of O.P.I. and Essie nail lacquers to choose from. Sachiko’s paint job usually lasts without chipping for at least two weeks.
Sachiko’s services are truly versatile. I’ve seen her at a four-year-old girl’s birthday party painting adorable little fingernails fifty shades of pink. I can also vouch first-hand that she is a fabulous addition to a mimosa-filled brunch with girlfriends.
Remarkably, Sachiko fits her entire salon set up into a travel bag on the back of her bike, which is her mode of transport around Tokyo. Beyond her talents as a nail technician and her unique business, she is a lovely soft-spoken lady who will hold your screaming baby while your fingernails are still drying.
As you can imagine, her appointment book fills up fast, especially prior to any major event in the area, so I recommend booking well in advance if you need your nails done for a special occasion. And I can guarantee that once you make your first appointment, you will be booking your second, third and fourth ones soon after!
