As Tokyo is gradually getting ready to embrace autumn — despite the still lingering heat and humidity — we witness a transition from late summer night matsuri madness to a more relaxed event scene. This doesn't mean there won't be excitement and plenty of fun things to do this weekend though — perhaps even more! Here's what to look forward to this week(end).
Up To The Top To Save A Life
TELL Tokyo Tower Climb 2018
Following massive success at its inaugural event last year, TELL’s Tokyo Tower Climb is back this Sunday, and yes, you are all encouraged to jump in (i.e. climb) and help support the organization’s cause: prevent suicide and provide mental health support to Japan’s international community. This is a memorable event, which requires you to climb 600 steps toward the top of Tokyo Tower, but it's worth every step of it!

Kichijoji Autumn Festival
Held for the 46th consecutive year, this festival brings residents of the fashionable Kichijoji neighborhood together in celebration of the beginning of autumn. The festival begins with the standard mikoshi parades, all arriving from various neighborhoods of Kichijoji. The mikoshi will eventually gather at Musashino Hachimangu shrine, which on Sunday will serve as a host for all mikoshi and matsuri folks.

Sing Along
Shibuya Zunchaka Music Jam Festival
Inspired by the simple idea of having the freedom to sing, dance and enjoy music outdoors in Shibuya for a single day in the year, this unique music festival was launched in 2016 and is now one of the largest Shibuya attractions. Everyone is invited to join the many street singers, marching bands and other cool kids in Shibuya regardless of whether you're a gifted singer or not so much. This one's a fun event to let a little loose and just sing, sing, sing along!
