Taste of Tokyo 2015

Mark your calendars for a food and drink event that is not to be missed. Taste of Tokyo aims to present the very finest foods, beverages, and culinary products and services. Spanning three days, the event will include hands-on seminars and cooking classes, live music and other entertainment, and a wide variety of food and drink vendors representing cuisines from around the world.

One notable special guest at the upcoming festival is Xevi Ramon, founder of Triticum bread factory in Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona. He is a certified Artisan Special Master recognized by the government of Catalonia, and he supplied some of the best restaurants in the world with customized breads. Two of these restaurants are El Bulli and El Celler de Can Roca. He will be in Japan specially for Taste of Tokyo, and participants in his seminars will receive a loaf of bread in a signed box. Ramon’s bread will also be sold exclusively at the event for ¥1,000 and is expected to sell out (it is not sold anywhere else in Japan).

Other chefs who will be participating in Taste of Tokyo include Makoto Onishi of Salvatore Cuomo (pizza making workshop for kids), Etienne Sonntag of the Spanish embassy (paella cooking class), and Ryo Horiuchi  of the Austrian embassy (parent and child Austrian sweet making class). The entire event is very family-friendly, and parents are encouraged to bring their children along.

Tickets for the festival are available in advance or on the day, and will be exchanged for a wristband (show this to get complimentary goods and special services) and food and drink tickets. Some seminars incur an additional fee, but many of them are free with an event ticket. But beware that spots are limited, so arrive early if you have your heart set on one particular class.

How much: ¥3,500 per person in advance; ¥3,600 on the day
