Daikanyama Photo Fair 2015
One of Tokyo's biggest photography events of the year is back this week, with 20 galleries showing works at venues all across Daikanyama. In addition to displays of photographs by renowned artists from both Japan and around the world, there will also be a series of special events including artist talks, workshops for adults and children, and screenings.
The Daikanyama Photo Fair was launched last September by the Fine-Art Photography Association (FAPA) under the name Hillside Terrace Photo Fair, and this year marks the second year of the fledgling festival. The name change reflects the expanding reach of the festival, both in terms of venues and art that will be displayed. Despite its short history, the fair has quickly become a must-visit on the Tokyo art calendar, showcasing a range of works by some of the world’s most notable and up-and-coming photography artists.
The fair brings together the leading booksellers, galleries, and publishers of the art photography world to showcase the finest photographic works from Japan and abroad. In addition to the exhibitors’ presentations, the fair will offer a wide range of public programs including artist talks, book signings, screenings, and workshops for both adults and children. In addition to viewing and purchasing photographic works, visitors will have opportunity to experience and learn about the world of art photography in new ways.
