Cosme Kitchen Juicery, Daikanyama

Juicing is the latest food craze to hit Tokyo (along with the rest of the world), with juice and smoothie stands popping up all over the city. One of these, located just outside Daikanyama station, aims to help people become healthy and beautiful not only on the inside, but on the outside as well.

Cosme Kitchen Juicery shares its premises with the original location of the popular natural and organic cosmetics store, Cosme Kitchen. And while the offerings are pretty typical of most juice stands around the world—green juices, superfood berry smoothies, and carrot juice mixes, for example—they are designed with the intention of promoting not only overall health, but also beautiful skin.

Some of the specific cold pressed juices on the menu include “beauty secret” (a blend of carrot, apple, grapefruit, celery, lemon, and ginger), “cleanse salad” (spirulina, kale, cucumber, grapefruit, apple, and lemon), and “red circulation” (beets, carrot, orange, apple, lemon, and ginger). There are also a few superfood smoothies, which are made with fresh fruits and vegetables supplemented with superfood powders such as maqui berry, acai, and camu camu. Currently on offer is a superfood smoothie created in collaboration with “eco chic” haircare brand Giovanni. The smoothie includes coconut oil, goji berries, maqui berry powder, grapefruit, orange, blueberry, banana and mango, and is supposedly good for one’s hair.

Finally, other non-superfood smoothies are also available, and include various fruits blended with soy milk. Prices start at ¥480 for a short smoothie and go up to ¥780 for a tall size of the Giovanni superfood smoothie. Any regular juice or smoothie can be given a customized superfood “boost” for an additional ¥100 to ¥200.
