For The Love of the Film
ShortShorts Film Festival 2020
Launched in 1999 as a small film festival in Harajuku that featured only six short titles by George Lucas when he was a student, this annual event has grown to become one of the largest Academy-recognized film festivals in Asia. This year, some 200 titles selected from 5,000 contestants from over 110 countries are screened in several locations around Tokyo. Go get some creativity and an inspiration boost!

Fresh Outdoor Air
Kurkku Fields Harvest
This event is the first of hopefully many Karkku Field outdoor events. Check out special foods using fresh agricultural products that can be harvested in the venue each season, and experience the “joy of eating" developed by guest shop owners. You can also get creative by trying some woven contemporary art, and listen to live music as well. As a measure to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection, the event will have strict infection control measures.

Worth The Climb
Takao Beer Mount
Just a short walk from the end of Mt. Takao Cable Car Station, the Mt. Takao Beer Mount will open again this year at an observation facility with an altitude of 488 meters. There will be an all-you-can-drink of beers, wines and cocktails available for up to 90 minutes and an all-you-can-eat buffet too! To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, all guests are asked to wear masks, disinfect their hands and follow social distancing protocols. All workers will be equipped with masks and face shields.

September Grand Sumo Tournament
Watch Japan’s traditional sport in person in a socially distanced box seat to yourself or with a few others. This September Sumo event is the second last annual “honbasho” tournament out of six. Tickets must be purchased in advance online due to covid this year. Some tickets may not be made available until the day of so you must keep an eye out for those.

Musical: How To Succeed
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is a musical by Frank Loesser and a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert, based on Shepherd Mead's 1952 book of the same name. The story follows a young, ambitious J. Pierrepont Finch, who, with the help of a book, rises from a window washer to chairman of the board of the World Wide Wicket Company. This musical will be presented in Japanese by a Japanese cast, unfortunately with no subtitles.
