Sumo tournament

Culture in Action

Grand Sumo Tournament

Watching sumo on screen can never replicate the feeling of watching it live: it’s an experience of an ancient living culture. The first of the year’s six tournaments, the Tokyo Grand Sumo Tournament takes place throughout the month of January. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day—though for the latter you'll need to get their early to grab one of the arena seats. More information can be found on their website.

Hot Pot Date

Nabe Hut 2025

Surrounding a hot pot with your family and friends in the beautiful city of Yokohama is a perfect way to warm up the stone cold weekend. This nabe hut event can be enjoyed in two ways: one by making your own special nabe by choosing among the all-time favorite ingredients and broth, and another by leaving it up to the pros and taste the best of Japan's regional nabe pots. To spice up the event, a strolling guitarist will be going around singing songs per request so get there with a favorite tune ready in mind!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Exhibition of Hashira

Don't miss out on this special Demon Slayer exhibit happening at the Creative Museum Tokyo for a limited time. This exhibit features the nine Hashira or the highest ranking Demon Slayers in the Demon Slayers Corp. Sagamiko Resort's Snow Park

We haven’t been able to see much snow in Tokyo yet this year. Sagamiko Resort in Kanagawa, however, has got us covered — its Snow Park is a vast area (6,000 sq. meters) covered in snow where kids can play all day long, ride they sleds (or tubes!), build snowmen and enjoy the winter weather to the fullest. Best thing? It's so close to Tokyo that you can easily make it a day trip! Plus there are heaps of other attractions around the resort you can enjoy as well.

Held annually, Yebisu International Festival aims to gather and encourage creativity through visual art exhibitions, movies, and dance performances.
