Fun Through Exchange
Multicultural Exchange Festival (MEF)
An United Nations-supported charity event to promote an afforestation project in Indonesia, MEF aims to connect Japanese and foreigners through exchange. Art and Constellations
Yokohama Triennale 2017
Held once in three years, this contemporary art event is back in Yokohama this year with the theme of “Islands, Constellations and Galapagos.” Artworks and photographs by various artists question the audience on the issue of connectivity, diversity, imagination, isolation, and others. Film screenings will also take place; special this week is the documentary on the Chinese activist Ai Weiwei.

From Boston to Tokyo
Great Collectors: Masterpieces From The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, one of the most renowned museums in the world, holds a collection of more than 500,000 works. Its collection, ranging from Egyptian artifacts to European post-impressionist works, also holds the largest collection of Japanese works outside of Japan. This week is the last chance to see the selected 80 works from the museum exhibited here in the heart of Tokyo. The exhibition includes ancient Egyptian art, paintings by Kitagawa Utamaro, Chinese works, masterpieces by Monet and Van Gogh, and contemporary photography.

Tokyo-based American-Japanese artist Frankie Cihi's solo exhibition explores themes surrounding cultural identity and bilingualism through a variety of media including photography, painting, and installation. Influenced by different countries and social angles, this event brings art and culture together for anyone who knows what it means to come from multiple backgrounds.
