Butoh Performance: The Candy Explosion
Butoh is a unique form of Japanese dance theatre which originated in post-war Japan in the 1950s. It incorporates a diverse range of movements, techniques and motivations for dance and performance. The Za Koenji Public Theater in Suganami will be holding a special Butoh performance over five days with dancers and special sound artists. Experience a part of Japanese culture that has been pushed to the sidelines in recent years, and feel the heart hitting developments though the eerie and inexplicable expressions of what was once called the ‘dark dance’.
