If you are tired of frequenting the big coffee shop chains with your baby and are looking for somewhere new to quench your thirst and satisfy your palate, then read on for a few of my favorite baby-friendly cafes.

Aoyama Oval

Located close to the children’s castle and the weekend farmers’ market, the Aoyama Oval café is a perfect spot to cool off and refresh your mind. Located on street level with a completely flat entranceway, it is ideal for a stroller. The outside seating area is entirely in the shade and is surprisingly quiet, which lends itself well to a successful baby nap!

Address: Aoyama Oval Building 1F, 5-52-2 Jingumae, Shibuya-Ku, Tokyo (opposite Aoyama Gakuin University)

Bondi Cafe

Comfy sofas and armchairs are great when out and about with a baby. Bondi Cafe in Hiroo has a great sofa area that is ideal for a small group of mums who want a leisurely catch-up over a coffee.

Address: 5-15-9 Minami Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo

A Piece of Cake

This quirky café is adjacent to the Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum in Aoyama. A small ramp takes you to the outdoor seating area overlooking the unusual sculptures created by avant-garde artist Taro Okamoto. If time permits and your baby is in a carrier, you can pay a visit to the small museum to see the studio where he worked. There is a coin parking lot directly opposite the café for mamas that drive.

Address: 6-1-19 Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo

Green Bar

This recently opened café is located in the Omotesando Hills shopping mall just below the kids area. Serving healthy but delicious smoothies and a selection of creative cupcakes topped with moustache shaped cookies, it is easily accessed by elevator and is only one floor below the mother and baby room.

Address: Omotesando Hills B3F, 4-12-10 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Afternoon Tea Tea Stand

Accessible by ramp with a stroller, this is a perfect spot for all the tea drinkers out there! Serving a variety of tea and tea lattes as well as a seasonal selection of cakes, this is a refreshing place to stop for a quiet break with your baby.

Address: 4-3-2 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
