These creative minds on Instagram put every Michelin-star restaurant to shame this Halloween.

While the ghosts, zombies and haunted nurses are all getting ready to hit Tokyo’s streets tonight for a yet another crazy Halloween evening, another form of ultimate creativity inspired by the holiday is quietly taking over social media: Halloween obento making.

With over 55,700 hashtags and growing, #HalloweenBento (#ハロウィン弁当) is the second largest sub-category of #Halloween (the first being #HalloweenCosplay) and so far, it wins the contest of anything creative related to food we’ve ever seen online. Take a look for yourself!

1. Halloween All-Stars

This completed food art of Instagram user @s_wave3 who continued making Halloween-inspired obento every single day for the past one month. In this final version, all stars that appeared in her previous works are gathered for the grand finale. See the rest of her amazing obento here.

This person says she never enjoyed making “kyara-ben” (character obento) for her kids, but we think she’s lying.

5. The “Sloppy” Bento

The person who created this gift from the food gods had a #sloppybento in her post. We wish we were at least 1% sloppy as her.

6. Minion onigiri

Just one mom’s regular Halloween lunch for her daughter. Apparently, it lacks a decorative lettuce, but we’d gladly take it even without it.

7. All for the kids

“My kids’ smile is the most important thing for me. I hope they’ll smile when they see this at lunch.” We’re in tears over these beautifully made kazari zushi. #ThisIsArt

10. Jack-o’-lantern sushi

This person actually made this for herself and we think this is the best self-care we could ever wish for on Halloween.
