M’Amour, Meguro
As of June 1, Interior Street (a four-kilometer-long street about 15 minutes from Meguro Station, lined with all manner of furniture and interior decorating stores) has a new tenant. With a European country theme (think summers in Provence), it is packed to the gills with charming and rustic knick knacks.
Like many stores in Tokyo, M’Amour is shameless in its one-dimensionalness. Everything—from the products on sale to the furniture used to display them—looks like it was plucked straight from the French countryside and deposited in the middle of one of the world’s biggest cities. And in many cases, it was.
M’Amour stocks antique Gien tableware, French vintage porcelain, English silver, scented candles, English and organic teas, Comptoir de Famille flatware, and many other kitchen goods, interior products and even a few fashion accessories. Everything is so sweet and quaint looking that it’s easy to get caught up in the moment, but keep a level head and there are some great finds to be had.
