MOS Burger is the second largest fast-food chain in Japan and holds a special place in the heart of many people. The founder, Satoshi Sakurada, has a unique company philosophy that aims to create “unlimited love for human beings and nature.” Mos stands for "mountain, ocean, sun," and Sakurada believes that, “since human society exists within nature, nature should not be threatened.”

To the unassuming customer, Mos Burger may seem like your average burger joint. However, once you have been converted to the joy of Mos Burger, you will find yourself in the company of an enthusiastic and loyal group of followers.

One of my favorite things about Mos Burger is that when you receive your meal it actually looks exactly the same as it does in the juicy menu pictures. Presentation is important in Japanese culture, and you can guarantee that great care will have been taken to present your burger to you in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Unlike other fast food chains, your burger does not sit around on the sidelines for ages. Each burger is prepared to order. This does mean that you will have to wait a short time to receive your meal. However, it is always piping hot when it is delivered to your table by the staff.

The menu offers a good selection of beef burgers, a chicken burger, and a fish burger, so there is something to suit all palates. There are also some items that cater to Japanese tastes, such as the rice burger, as well as seasonal specials. Curiously, hot dogs are served for breakfast. An all-time classic menu choice, however, is the spicy Mos burger. This burger is served with a spicy filling that has had my husband returning to Mos Burger for years!

This past Spring, Mos Burger opened an outlet at the iconic Tokyo Tower, where a Tower Burger is also on the menu. Not available at any other Mos Burger locations, the Tower Burger contains two beef patties, spicy sauce, onion rings, bacon and salad; an awesome task for brave challengers!

Sakurada explains that “the stores exist for the community,” and he wants his customers to feel that Mos Burger is “cosy and wonderful.” Why don’t you give it a try? There are outlets nationwide; click here to find one near you.
